About Media Biodiesel

Media Biodiesel is a digital news outlet covering Indonesian biodiesel and biofuels: policy, markets, technology and sustainability, reported accurately, promptly and with balance.

Contents (5 sections)

Media Biodiesel is a digital news outlet covering biodiesel and biofuels in Indonesia. We launched at a defining moment: since the B50 mandate took effect on 1 July 2026, half of every litre of Biosolar now comes from Indonesian palm plantations. Biodiesel is no longer a niche issue; it sits at the core of national energy security, palm oil downstreaming and the energy transition.

Our mission

To be an accurate, up-to-date and easy-to-understand reference on the biodiesel ecosystem, from plantation to fuel tank, for policymakers, industry players, academics, farmers and the general public.

What we cover

  • Policy & regulation — the B40–B50 mandates and the roadmap beyond them, biofuel volume allocations, the biodiesel market index price (HIP), BPDP incentives and funding, and quality standards.
  • Markets & supply chain — crude palm oil (CPO) and diesel price dynamics, FAME supply, distribution and blending, and the food–energy–export balance.
  • Technology & innovation — FAME, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO/green diesel), sustainable aviation fuel (SAF, locally "bioavtur"), bioethanol, green refineries, and waste feedstocks such as used cooking oil (UCO).
  • Sustainability & ESG — ISPO certification, supply chain traceability, lifecycle emissions, decarbonisation of transport and industry, and social and environmental issues in producing regions.
  • Explainers — plain-language basics so the public understands what goes into their vehicle's fuel tank.

Editorial principles

  1. Data and primary sources. We draw on official regulations and on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), BPDP, Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Agriculture, research institutions and scientific publications, and we cite sources in every article.
  2. Cross-checking. Where figures differ between sources, we present them as they are, with context, rather than picking the most convenient one.
  3. Balance. We give space to government, industry, farmers, academics and civil society, including critical voices on sustainability.
  4. Open to corrections. When we get something wrong, we correct it transparently.
  5. Independence. Sponsored or partnership content is always clearly labelled.

Who is Media Biodiesel for?

For policymakers who need a summary of regulatory developments; industry players, including biofuel producers, fuel distributors, and industrial, transport and mining diesel users; palm farmers and cooperatives who want to understand where their harvest goes; and the public, who want to know why the fuel at the pump keeps changing.
