Biodiesel Distribution Hits 10.69 Million kL Ahead of Full B50 Rollout; Private Distributors Lag
B40 and B50 distribution reached 10.69 million kL by 7 September 2026. 76 of 104 fuel terminals were already supplying B50, while non-Pertamina distributors were said to be lagging.

Jakarta — Indonesia distributed a cumulative 10.69 million kilolitres of biodiesel up to 7 September 2026, combining B40 in the first half of the year and B50 since its launch, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). The government presented the figures ahead of the end of the B50 transition period at fuel stations on 1 October 2026.
Distribution and terminal figures
EBTKE Director General Eniya Listiani Dewi presented the data at a hearing with Commission XII of the House of Representatives (DPR) on 8 September 2026, KabarBursa reported. Of the 10.69 million kL total, around 7.27 million kL was B40 in January–June, while about 3.4 million kL was B50 since 1 July.
- 94% of fuel stations, around 6,050 sites, were already dispensing B50; 362 fuel stations were still in transition (similar figures were reported by detikOto).
- Of 104 fuel terminals, 76 were already distributing B50 and 28 were still switching over from B40.
The role of private companies
CNBC Indonesia (30 September 2026) reported that 34 biodiesel blending companies needed around three months to adjust, while Pertamina needed about two months to use up old stock. Pertamina was supplying B50 to more than 90% of its fuel station network in early September, while the national average was around 80% because it includes non-Pertamina distributors, which were said to be lagging. The government monitored all distributors throughout the final month of the transition to keep supply available. The report did not name any specific private companies.
FAME and feedstock supply
ESDM projects that 16.8–18 million kL of FAME supplied by biofuel producers will be fully absorbed through the end of December 2026, according to KabarBursa. CNBC Indonesia put FAME needs at around 16.7–18 million kL a year; the lower bound differs between reports (16.7 versus 16.8 million kL). CPO needs are estimated at 15.2–16.3 million tonnes. KabarBursa calculated this as equivalent to 29–32% of national CPO production in 2025 of 51.66 million tonnes, based on GAPKI data.
National diesel consumption ranges from 38 to 40 million kL a year. Before B50, Indonesia was said to still import around 3–4 million kL of diesel, and the government is aiming to end those imports.
A note on exports
KabarBursa also cited a BPDP-backed study (by a Sucofindo–Appertani joint operation, or KSO) projecting that palm oil exports will fall 11.40% compared with 2024, and warning of supply pressure. We have found this figure in only one source, so it should be read with caution.
A comprehensive evaluation of B50 implementation is scheduled for December 2026. More policy background is available in B50 Fully in Force at All Fuel Stations, Government Studies B60.
