Jakarta — PT Pertamina Patra Niaga began distributing B50 biodiesel on 1 July 2026 from 29 of its 126 fuel terminals, with an initial volume of about 37.9 million litres. The company says it is preparing up to 87.27 million litres of B50 a day for national needs, and the number of terminals supplying B50 will rise gradually during the transition period, which runs until 30 September 2026.

29 terminals at the start, 126 prepared

Pertamina Patra Niaga VP Corporate Communication Kitty Andhora told Antara on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, that 29 terminals were ready to distribute B50 in the first phase and that the company is monitoring distribution to make sure B50 reaches outlets and consumers. Speaking to detikcom, Kitty said the initial 37.92 million litres would be distributed across most of Indonesia, and that the 29-terminal count would keep growing during the transition.

Separately, Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Roberth MV Dumatubun told Katadata that all 126 of the company's fuel terminals were ready to distribute B50 from 1 July 2026, with an initial volume of 37.91 million litres. The small difference in volume (37.91 versus 37.92 million litres) comes from two separate statements. The 126 figure refers to facility readiness, while 29 is the number of terminals actually dispatching B50 on day one.

According to Katadata, B50 is being supplied as Biosolar and Dexlite to Pertamina-owned and partner fuel stations in stages, following directions from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). detikcom reported that Pertamina has prepared infrastructure from its fuel terminals to fuel stations and diesel agents (APMS).

Three-month transition to use up B40 stock

Eniya Listiani Dewi, Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), said on 25 June 2026 that the three-month transition is intended to use up B40 inventories, with all distribution points expected to be fully on B50 from 1 October. Companies holding B40 stock may sell it until 30 September 2026 provided it meets quality standards and technical specifications, Antara reported. Pertamina aims to clear its own B40 stock within two months.

Eniya also said companies that fail to comply after the transition will receive a warning, followed by administrative sanctions, Katadata reported. The mandate's technical rules are summarised on our biodiesel regulation page.

According to detikcom, around 30 companies are involved in blending, with Pertamina and AKR holding the largest share, together about 70% of the volume. ESDM spokesperson Dwi Anggia, quoted by Antara, said compatibility testing had been completed across transport segments and machinery types, including heavy equipment, locomotives, vessels, and specialised mining and agricultural equipment.

FAME receipt remains a pressure point

Terminal readiness depends on the ability to receive and store FAME. At a B50 seminar on 30 April 2026, Pertamina Patra Niaga VP Business Development & Subsidiary Sigit Setiawan said only about 35 main terminals can take FAME directly from biodiesel producers, Investortrust reported. Remote terminals still face access constraints, so biodiesel is delivered to them already blended, and several sites need larger tanks as FAME's share of the blend increases.
