Indonesia’s biodiesel market index price (HIP) stood at IDR 15,072 per litre in October 2026, 38.3% higher than in January 2024 (IDR 10,896). The infographic below shows every monthly figure published by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) over that period.

How the HIP is set

The HIP follows the formula in ESDM Decree 3.K/EK.05/DJE/2024: (average KPB crude palm oil price + US$85 per tonne) × 870 kg/m³, with transport costs added separately by region. Because crude palm oil is the main input, the HIP moves with CPO prices — see CPO price today.

Why the HIP matters

The HIP is the reference price for the biodiesel blended into diesel under the mandate. For subsidised (PSO) volumes, the gap between the biodiesel HIP and the diesel index price is paid from the BPDP plantation fund, so a higher HIP raises the amount the fund needs. The HIP is announced at the start of each month; this infographic and the data page are updated when ESDM publishes a new figure.
