B-number (B40, B50…)
A B-number such as B40 or B50 states the percentage of biodiesel (FAME) in a blend with diesel; B50 means 50% biodiesel and 50% fossil diesel.
The letter B stands for biodiesel and the number is the volume of biodiesel per 100 parts of blend. Indonesia's sequence: B10 mandatory from 1 September 2013, B15 in 2015, B20 in 2016 (extended to non-PSO sectors in 2018), B30 in January 2020, B35 on 1 February 2023, B40 on 1 January 2025, and B50 on 1 July 2026.
B60 is still under study and B100 (pure biodiesel) has not been mandated. Each step raises FAME demand, volume allocations and incentive funding.
