Biodiesel
Biodiesel is a liquid biofuel made of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) from vegetable oils or fats, blended with diesel fuel for diesel engines.
In Indonesia, biodiesel is made almost entirely from crude palm oil (CPO) through transesterification with methanol, which yields FAME and glycerol as a by-product.
It is blended into diesel under B-number codes, for example B50, which contains 50% biodiesel. Its quality is governed by SNI 7182:2024.
