What is the “2027 Price Outlook” session?

The price outlook is IPOC’s signature market-forecast segment. This year it falls in Session 4 on the afternoon of day two. Thomas Mielke presents “Global Supply, Demand and Price Outlook of Palm Oil and other Vegetable Oils” (14:50–15:20). Dorab Mistry follows with “Perfect Storm on Palm Oil Industry and Outlook of Vegetable Oil Prices” (15:50–16:20). No 2027 price figures had been published as of 12 October 2026. This page will add them once the session has taken place.

Key issues heading to Nusa Dua

  • B50 and B60 biodiesel: the B50 mandate has applied since 1 July 2026 and has been available at every fuel station since 1 October 2026. The government is now studying B60 for 2027 (read more). Eddy Martono has said biodiesel expansion must go hand in hand with keeping exports competitive, because trade partners such as India have asked about the policy’s direction.
  • EUDR: the EU regulation applies to large and medium operators from 30 December 2026 and to micro and small enterprises from 30 June 2027. In its 4 May 2026 simplification review, the European Commission said these timelines continue to apply (EUDR and palm derivatives).
  • DSI and single-window exports: the government set a three-month transition from 1 June to 31 August 2026. According to Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono, palm oil, coal and iron exports are due to run entirely through PT DSI from 1 January 2027.
  • Prices: Bursa Malaysia’s benchmark CPO futures contract closed above RM5,000 a tonne on 21 August 2026. On 9 October 2026, the December 2026 contract stood at RM4,592. Follow prices on our Prices page.

What IPOC 2025 forecast vs what happened

At IPOC 2025 in Nusa Dua (November 2025), Dorab Mistry forecast CPO at RM5,000 a tonne by end-December 2025 and RM5,500 in January–March 2026. Most speakers were also bullish on 2026. Here is what happened:

Forecast at IPOC 2025What happened
Mistry: RM5,000/t by end-December 2025Futures closed 2025 below RM4,060 on 31 December, down about 8.5% for the year.
Mistry: RM5,500/t in January–March 2026Not reached. The March 2026 contract stood at RM4,121 on 6 February. In March, a crude oil surge triggered by the war in West Asia lifted CPO to a six-month high of RM4,654 a tonne on 16 March.
Most speakers: bullish 2026 pricesPartly right, but late. The benchmark contract closed above RM5,000 on 21 August 2026. By 9 October it had eased to RM4,362–4,592 across the October–December 2026 contracts.
GAPKI and Glenauk Economics: B50 unlikely in 2026Wrong. B50 took effect on 1 July 2026.

The takeaway is that IPOC forecasts often get the direction right but miss the timing. Biodiesel producers should use the 2027 outlook figures as scenarios, not as a feedstock budget benchmark.

Why it matters for biodiesel

B50 is drawing more palm oil into the domestic market. That makes 2027 projections for CPO supply, stocks, exports and prices central to biodiesel feedstock costs and to the incentive funding they require. The same projections will also shape the direction of the B60 study. Other industry events are listed on Media Biodiesel’s Events page.
