Indonesia's Early-November Diesel Prices Hold; Biodiesel HIP Is Separate

Subsidised Biosolar stood at IDR 6,800 per litre on 1 November; Jakarta Dexlite and Pertamina Dex prices also held. October biodiesel HIP is a different measure.

Jakarta — Subsidised biodiesel-blend diesel (Biosolar) remained at IDR 6,800 per litre at the start of November 2026, while Dexlite and Pertamina Dex in Jakarta were priced at IDR 23,700 and IDR 25,200 per litre, respectively. Price lists published by CNBC Indonesia and Katadata on 1 November show no adjustment to those three diesel products. These are retail pump prices, not the biodiesel market index price (HIP) used in the biofuel procurement system.

Diesel prices held at the start of November

Katadata, citing Pertamina's official site, reported that the company had made no fuel-price adjustment since October. CNBC Indonesia likewise listed subsidised diesel at IDR 6,800 per litre, Dexlite at IDR 23,700 and Pertamina Dex at IDR 25,200 in Jakarta as of 1 November. The geographical qualifier matters: the two unsubsidised diesel prices should not be presented as rates for every Indonesian province.

Katadata also listed Shell V-Power Diesel at IDR 25,420 per litre and said that price had been unchanged since September. CNBC Indonesia showed the same figure for BP Ultimate Diesel and Vivo Diesel Primus. These are different products from different suppliers, so their prices should not be treated as interchangeable with the subsidised Biosolar rate.

Reports that prices held on the first day of the month are not a guarantee that they will remain unchanged throughout November. They also need to be distinguished from forecasts issued before the new month's prices were known. Drivers should check the applicable local price when purchasing fuel.

Biodiesel HIP is not the pump price

Indonesia's Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) set the October 2026 biodiesel market index price (HIP) at IDR 15,072 per litre plus transport costs, effective 1 October. Its notice also specified a crude palm oil-to-biodiesel conversion component of USD 85 per tonne. The HIP is an index for the mandatory biodiesel programme; it is not the IDR 6,800 Biosolar retail tariff or the pump prices of Dexlite and Pertamina Dex.

At the time of writing, this newsroom has not verified a November HIP figure from an official EBTKE announcement it could open. The October figure must therefore not be relabelled as a November rate or used to estimate November funding differences. See the biodiesel HIP tracker for updates and the fuel-price pages for retail-price data.

How does this relate to B50?

In its July B50 launch statement, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources estimated programme biodiesel needs at 16.7–18 million kilolitres. That was a government projection at launch, not a figure for biodiesel distributed in November. The blend requirement and the retail selling price are separate questions. Unchanged pump prices on 1 November do not prove that biodiesel production costs or programme funding needs have remained static.

Readers should keep both dates and units in view: the reported diesel retail prices applied on 1 November 2026 and are denominated in rupiah per litre; the official HIP figure verified here applied in October 2026 and was quoted before transport costs; and the ministry's biodiesel-needs figure is a projected programme volume in kilolitres. None of the cited sources establishes that B50 prices across Indonesia rose or fell because of a November HIP reading.
