Along Indonesia’s biodiesel chain, palm farmers in Riau received IDR 3,776.39/kg for fresh fruit bunches (7 October 2026), crude palm oil sold at IDR 14,850/kg at the KPBN tender (9 October 2026), the government set the biodiesel market index price at IDR 15,072/litre (October 2026), and drivers paid IDR 6,800/litre for subsidised B50 Biosolar.

Who sets each price

FFB prices are set per province by a pricing team led by the plantation office under Agriculture Minister Regulation 01/2018, usually weekly or fortnightly. The KPBN price comes from the daily tender of the state plantation marketing company. The HIP is set monthly by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The subsidised Biosolar price is set by the government and changes far less often than the other three.

Why the numbers can’t be compared directly

Each figure is in a different unit — a kilogram of fruit, a kilogram of oil, a litre of fuel — and covers a different period. Roughly, several kilograms of fruit are needed for one kilogram of oil. The gap between the biodiesel HIP and the diesel index price for subsidised (PSO) volumes is covered by the BPDP plantation fund, which is financed largely by the CPO export levy.
