Indonesia Biodiesel Weekly: B50, CPO and Palm Prices (19–23 October 2026)
B50 oversight, CPO and FFB prices and palm-mill waste led the 19–23 October week; the latest market observations available were from 22 October.

Jakarta — Indonesia's biodiesel coverage for 19–23 October 2026 focused on the B50 rollout, supply-chain oversight, palm prices and the use of palm mill waste. Price data available through Thursday, 22 October, show the nearest ICDX crude palm oil (CPO) contract rising from IDR 15,460 to IDR 15,775/kg and Bursa Malaysia's January 2027 contract from MYR 4,766 to MYR 4,792/tonne, while Thursday's KPBN figure was the highest bid in a withdrawn tender, not a completed sale. October's biodiesel market index price (HIP) remained IDR 15,072/litre before freight, and provincial fresh fruit bunch (FFB) prices moved in different directions.

Seven developments to follow
- B50 supplies in East Java. Fuel stocks were reported at 60,000 kL on 19 October, with FAME among incoming supplies. A forecast increase to 80,000 kL should not be treated as a verified outcome.
- The foreign-exchange claim. A fact-check of the IDR 170 trillion figure separates projected B50 savings from realised B40 results; the figure does not establish savings already achieved by both programmes.
- E50 plans alongside B50. The president outlined an ethanol blending path towards E50 around 2030. Ending all fuel imports remains a conditional aspiration, not a demonstrated outcome.
- Semarang diesel investigation. A 382 kL discrepancy between a delivery order and purchase documents remains under investigation. A paperwork discrepancy is neither a confirmed physical volume nor proof of wrongdoing.
- Palm feedstock and peat. Proposals for B100 feedstock from degraded land require plot-level checks of legal status and peat function; the land's condition does not itself authorise conversion.
- Palm-mill emissions and waste. The environment ministry urged emissions inventories and consideration of POME methane capture; separately, PGN and partners target biomethane supply from 2027. The project target is not a realised sales volume.
- Uneven FFB prices. Updates from Central Kalimantan, North Sumatra and West Kalimantan cover different pricing periods and schemes; they should not be condensed into one national FFB price.
What it means for Indonesia
Bernama reported a rise in Malaysian palm futures on 22 October alongside stronger export-shipment estimates, while noting the risk from high inventories. For Indonesia, the move provides regional context for domestic CPO prices; it does not prove that Malaysian futures automatically raise Indonesian FFB prices or alter B50 requirements. Each domestic series and its pricing period need separate scrutiny.
What to watch next week
- According to the organiser's announcement, registration for MEBI Biomass Business Matching closes on 27 October; meetings are scheduled for 3–5 November at JIExpo. Check the organiser's updates before registering.
- Watch fresh FFB determinations and KPBN, ICDX and FCPO observations after 22 October on the price dashboard. No verified release date for November's biodiesel HIP has been established for next week.
- Beyond next week, GAPKI schedules IPOC 2026 in Bali for 11–13 November, while MPOB says it releases monthly Malaysian industry data on the 10th at approximately 12:30–12:45 Malaysian time. The European Commission lists 30 December 2026 as the EUDR application date for large and medium operators; certain newly added palm derivatives have a 30 December 2027 date.
